Source: Moscow, Ankara mull Russian gas price, not payment delay
ANKARA, Oct 4 (PRIME) -- Ankara and Moscow are discussing the price for Russian natural gas, not a delay of Turkey’s payments, a source in Ankara told PRIME on Tuesday.
On Monday, Bloomberg reported quoting sources that Turkey asked Russia to delay some payments to 2024 in an attempt to mitigate the economic blow from high energy prices.
“The discussion is not about a delay, it is about the price because the contracts previously took into account the prices on the European exchanges, and the price was high,” the source said.
“Conditions have changed, and an agreement was reached on a partial payment for gas in rubles. There are no problems in the negotiations, they are based on trust and relations between the two leaders.”
